Will You Say Yes to Purpose in 2020?

As we are approaching a new year and a new decade…what are you saying yes to? Will you say yes to purpose in 2020? As we are waiting on God to do the miraculous in our lives, and as we are awaiting answered prayers, we must stop and ask ourselves: What is God waiting on me to start or complete?

We all have a purpose to fulfill in this life, beyond money and sustainability – That’s God’s job. Jeremiah 29:11 tells us: For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. That’s God’s promise that He has equipped us to do what He desires of us on this earth. All He needs is our yes and trust in the process. The process may include battles, attacks from the enemy (The enemy hates when we are operating in purpose for God!), hurdles, doubt, and fear, and periods of distractions along the way. But we are to stay the course. Why? Because what He has set forth for us to do in this season is bigger than us. It’s greater than what we can see. Someone’s breakthrough and/or salvation can be dependent on our yes. Our own breakthrough can be dependent on our yes. So, stay the course - say yes - and pray for boldness and consistency along the way. Write the book, start the blog, create the business plan…take the leap of faith! And don’t let anyone or thing deter you from your assignment.

Truth is, I face doubt and fear as I walk out the vision and the purpose assigned to my life, and when I try to run, God meets me right in my tracks. It isn’t a cakewalk, by far, but God promises never to leave nor forsake me, and as I rely on Him, the fear becomes less.

Below are a few ways that can help guide you to your yes!

First and foremost, we must abide in Him. In John 15, Jesus tells us that He is the vine, His Father is the vinedresser, and we are the branches. We must abide in Him to bear fruit, for, without Him, we can do nothing.

  • Be obedient – Obey and go when God says go, stop when He says stop, and move only when He says move. But, most importantly, don’t let fear keep you back from what God has told you to do or say.

Romans 2:13 – For not the hearers of the law are just in the sight of God, but the doers of the law will be justified

1 Samuel 15:22 – So Samuel said: “Has the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to heed than the fat of rams.

  • Surrender to God: Let go of our own ways and follow His. It is easy to naturally do what we want or think is best. But, will we surrender and let go of that thing (Job, boo, bae, business, etc.) when God says so.

Galatians 2:20 – I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself to me.

Luke 9:23 - Then He said to them all, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, take up his cross daily, and follow Me.”

  • Be available: God wants our hearts. He wants us to make room for Him in our lives so we can be available to do what He says to do and when. If we are too consumed, busy, and unavailable due to other things in our lives, we can miss the opportunity to operate in what God has called us to. Availability = willingness. Are you available and willing to do what God has equipped you to do?

Isaiah 6:8 – Also, I heard the voice of the Lord, saying: “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then I said, “Here I am! Send me.”

Mark 1:17-18 – Then Jesus said to them, “Follow Me, and I will make you become fishers of men.” They immediately left their nets and followed Him.

  • Stay consistent: Stay the course, and don’t give up. Devote time to that thing and keep going. No matter how small it might look. Even when it seems like you’ll never bear any fruit, keep going, and trust in Him. Consistency will produce results.

1 Corinthians 15:58 – Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.

Galatians 6:9 – And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.

  • Stay committed: Stay committed to the commitment. Just as you would, your job, or another paid and tangible reward. As you operate in your purpose, you might experience times of lack, such as a lack of followers, lack of support, lack of resources, or times where you may want to give up. But continue to show up for God, He deserves it.

Proverbs 16:3 – Commit your works to the Lord, and your thoughts will be established.

Matthew 6:33-34 – But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things, sufficient for the day is its own trouble.

Ladies, we are in this together, and I pray for your yes in 2020. Let the vision begin! Habakkuk 2:2 – Then the Lord answered me and said: “Write the vision and make it plain on tablets, that he may run who reads it” What are you saying yes to in 2020?

I would love to hear what it is that you are going to say yes to! I am excited for you and will be praying for you as you walk into your purpose. Please feel free to message me to share. Love you and be blessed!
